Disney Dinner and Movie Night: The Princess and the Frog

"You know the thing about good food? It brings folks together from all walks of life." - James

I absolutely loved this Disney Dinner and Movie challenge. Cajun Food is so deep in my soul, even though I don't have a ton of experience (to be honest, I never made a proper roux until a few weeks ago!) But, there is something about this food that speaks to me. I absolutely love the French influence, and the addition of the "swampy" Creole flavor :) (Btw, there is a whole rabbit hole to go down with Cajun vs. Creole - check Reddit). But anyways, the flavors of this food mixed with the magical Disney movie of "The Princess and the Frog" make this a knock-out-of-the-park combination! I had so much fun!

Menu:

Fried Platter: Fried Okra and Hushpuppies
Jambalaya
Chocolate Mousse

All recipes come from Chef Paul Prudhomme - he's one of the reveled chefs from Louisiana, and I had so much fun learning from him.

Right after we cooked this meal, we went to the Jazz at Disneyland. It's a Cajun restaurant with nods to Tiana. I wanted so badly to get the Jambalaya to compare it to mine, but it was made with noodles instead of rice. So, since it wasn't really apples to apples I ended up getting the fish instead - which was to die for! I would love to hear from you - did you try any of these recipes? What more would you like to see? How do date nights at home compare to date nights out? Drop me a line in the comments! and don't forget to like and subscribe if you want to see more! :)
